Ingredients
  

  • 60 ml gin or vodka
  • 15 ml dry vermouth
  • Ice
  • Garnish: one olive or a lemon twist

Method
 

  1. Fill a mixing glass with ice.
  2. Add the gin (or vodka) and dry vermouth.
  3. Stir gently for about 30 seconds until well-chilled. (Yes, I said stir—more on that in a bit!)
  4. Strain into a chilled coupe or Martini glass.
  5. Garnish with an olive or a lemon twist.
